Set within the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal, Hartford House is a historic country estate and luxury boutique hotel and restaurant, with a manor house dating back 151 years. Following its acquisition by Henning Pretorius in 2019, the property underwent a considered restoration, carefully preserving the character and heritage of the original architecture while introducing thoughtful modern enhancements.
As part of this transformation, a SUNFLEX SF20 Frameless Glass Sliding System was installed across the full exterior of the manor house's wraparound patio. The expansive glass enclosure now forms an elegant setting for the property's fine-dining restaurant, extending the usable space while keeping the original architecture and surrounding landscape at the heart of the experience.
The frameless sliding system provides a contemporary layer of comfort and protection without introducing heavy frames or altering the visual character of the historic building. It is a considered example of how modern architectural glass can enhance a heritage property while respecting its original design.
