Getting to Know Sunflex
SUNFLEX SA is a South African manufacturer of premium frameless and framed glass systems and aluminium security shutters. SUNFLEX SA brings 22 years of local manufacturing experience together with more than 40 years of SUNFLEX German engineering and innovation.
Our systems combine German engineering and imported German components with locally manufactured aluminium, before being assembled at our Durban head office and manufacturing facility.
With showrooms and offices in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg, SUNFLEX SA supplies premium frameless glass doors in South Africa and locally manufactured aluminium security shutters.
Frameless glass doors create uninterrupted views, maximise natural light and maintain a stronger visual connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. With minimal visible framing, they offer a lighter, more refined modern architectural finish than conventional aluminium sliding or stacking doors. Selected SUNFLEX systems can also open across most of the opening, providing greater flexibility for patios, balconies and entertainment areas.
Yes. You can purchase directly from SUNFLEX SA through our Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg teams. We manage the process from consultation and precise measurement to local manufacturing and specialist installation. In selected outlying areas, installation may be completed by an accredited SUNFLEX provider who meets our quality standards.

Yes. SUNFLEX supplies and installs systems across South Africa. Where our specialist installation teams cannot reach an outlying area directly, we may appoint an accredited provider who meets SUNFLEX installation standards. Contact us with your location so we can confirm availability and the best installation option for your project.
Your SUNFLEX sales agent will arrange a final site measurement and confirm every technical and design detail before your system enters production. Once manufacturing is complete, a highly trained SUNFLEX fitting team will install your frameless glass or aluminium security shutters with precision and care, ensuring they meet our exacting installation standards.
Once your quotation is confirmed, SUNFLEX frameless glass systems typically take four to six weeks to manufacture and install.
Our locally manufactured aluminium security shutters have an impressively short lead time of three to five weeks, depending on colour chosen.
Aluminium is strong, lightweight, corrosion-resistant and low maintenance, making it ideal for SUNFLEX frameless glass systems and aluminium security shutters. It allows for slim, precision-engineered profiles that provide lasting performance without appearing heavy or obstructing the view. Aluminium is also well suited to South African conditions, including coastal environments.
Contact SUNFLEX SA directly or the branch that managed your installation. Provide your installation details and photographs so our technical team can assess the issue. If a replacement component is required, our dedicated spare parts department at the SUNFLEX Durban head office helps minimise unnecessary delays by identifying and coordinating the correct parts. A trained fitting team will then complete the repair or replacement. Manufacturing defects and replacement parts may be covered, subject to the applicable warranty terms and maintenance requirements.
SUNFLEX SA has a dedicated spare parts department at its head office. Contact your Sunflex agent or your nearest Sunflex branch with your system details and photographs of the affected area. Our technical team will identify the correct component and arrange for a trained fitting team to install it correctly.
Yes. A well-designed SUNFLEX system can enhance both the appeal and functionality of your home by creating more versatile living spaces, improving indoor-outdoor flow and adding a premium architectural finish.
Frameless glass systems can transform patios and balconies into more usable year-round spaces, while SUNFLEX Aluminium Security Shutters combine security, privacy and light control with considered architectural design. These are features that can make a property more desirable to future buyers.
Sunflex Glass Systems
All SUNFLEX glass systems are available in 20 premium powder-coated finishes, ranging from timeless Matt Black to crisp White. With a carefully selected colour palette, you can choose a finish that perfectly complements your home and architectural style.
Each SUNFLEX system is available with a selection of German-engineered handles and locking options. The right choice will depend on how the space is used, the level of security required, and whether you need dual access, keyed locking or single-sided entry. Every option is designed to complement the system while providing smooth, reliable operation.
The SF20 is a bottom running frameless sliding door system. Its glass panels slide behind one another along multiple tracks, making it ideal when you want effortless opening with some panels remaining in place.
The SF25 is a top-hung frameless glass stacking door system. Each panel slides independently, turns and stacks neatly to one or both sides, allowing the opening to be cleared almost completely. It can lock from both the inside and outside, making it suitable for use as a primary entrance.
Choose the SF20 for simple multi-slide operation and the SF25 for maximum opening flexibility and locking system.
Both the SF20 and SF22 use the same smooth, multi-track sliding operation.
The SF20 offers a clean, uninterrupted frameless glass finish, while the SF22 features fixed Simulated Divided Lites (SDL) — decorative grids applied to both sides of the glass to create a distinctive cottage-style appearance.
The choice is primarily aesthetic, allowing you to select the design that best complements your architecture.
Both systems use independent glass panels that slide, turn and stack neatly to the side.
The SF25 is a frameless glass stacking system with single toughened safety glass, offering maximum transparency, minimal sightlines and almost completely uninterrupted views.
The SF35 is a framed, double-glazed glass system. Its slim aluminium profiles and insulated glass provide enhanced thermal insulation and weather protection, making it better suited to more exposed openings where comfort and performance are priorities.
Yes. All SUNFLEX systems use structurally certified toughened safety glass, which is approximately five times stronger than standard glass. In the very unlikely event of breakage, it fragments into small, blunt pieces rather than sharp shards — making it a safe, refined choice for family homes and entertainment spaces.
The SF25 and SF35 stacking systems can be configured as primary entrances, with locking access from both inside and outside.
Choose the SF25 for a frameless glass stacking door with uninterrupted views, or the SF35 for a framed, double-glazed glass door offering enhanced insulation and weather protection.
The SF20 is not rated for use as a primary entrance. It can, however, be fitted with a dual-access latch locking mechanism, allowing keyed operation from both sides where access is required.
The SF25 Frameless Glass Stacking System with EuroGlide offers the highest level of weather protection in the SUNFLEX range.
When engaged, the EuroGlide system compresses the glass panels against continuous H-weather seals, creating a tighter barrier against wind, driving rain and draughts. Combined with precision weather seals and integrated track drainage, it delivers exceptional protection while maintaining the SF25's elegant frameless appearance.
For maximum weather protection without compromising the view, choose the SF25 with EuroGlide.

Learn more about why we think our shutters are the best on the market →
Yes. SUNFLEX aluminium security shutters combine the functions of two separate products: burglar bars for security and curtains or blinds for privacy and light control. Their adjustable louvres also allow you to manage airflow without compromising protection.
When installing your new security shutters, our fitting team will remove your existing burglar bars.
The level of security required will determine whether Full Security or LITE Security shutters are best suited to each opening in your home.
No. When closed, SUNFLEX aluminium shutters significantly reduce light and provide excellent privacy, but they are not completely blackout. Only a fine line of light may remain visible where the aluminium louvres meet.
